More than 12 years ago in Nashville, TN, Mary Richardson was introduced to the Ashtanga yoga tradition, thus beginning her yogic path. A year later she made her first trip to India to immerse herself in the Ashtanga practice. In 2004, Mary returned to India where she spent many months traveling the country in order to practice and study with various teachers of different lineages. She will always be grateful to her first teacher, V.K. Sheshadre, and the others that have enriched her life and practice. In 2005 Mary relocated to Austin and earned her 200-hour teacher certification through the Living Yoga Program. The LYP program embraces all styles and traditions of yoga, which further influenced Mary to do the same.
Incorporating Mary’s various influences, her classes consist of an eclectic arrangement of poses that reflect her commitment to remaining awake, balanced and open in one’s own practice. The union of movement and breath is an important focus in Mary’s practice and teaching. She challenges all of her students to find their breath, even in difficult postures, to laugh, and most importantly enjoy their mistakes. Learn more about Mary at www.maryreneyoga.com
