Cody Drasser’s teaching style could be referred to as an intensive study in energy ecology. Like his personal practice, his classes emphasize pranayama and raising energy. He has completed 500+ hours of training with his master teacher, Yoganand Michael Carroll, in the Pranakriya Yoga tradition and is currently working towards certification as a yoga therapist.
Cody taught asana and meditation workshops for over three years at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. He was also a regular instructor at several other Berkshire yoga studios before relocating in early 2011 to Austin to teach at Yoga Yoga. Being part of the yoga team at Kripalu afforded Cody the opportunity to study with many eminent yoga teachers including Shobhan Richard Faulds, Tom Gillette, Rodney Yee, and Bo Forbes, as well as train in Thai yoga massage with the Lotus Palm School. He has practiced Vipassana meditation for several years. More recently, he has studied with James Bailey, Seane Corn, Rod Stryker and Chase Bossart.
He is available for private yoga sessions and has experience working therapeutically with seniors. He and his partner, Stephanie Shorter, co-teach workshops that interweave the practice and science of asana, meditation and pranayama.
In addition to practicing and sharing yoga, Cody’s other passion is creating art – both visual and auditory art. He has a unique 3-D painting style, has illustrated books, and has recently been commissioned to design several CD covers. In the spring of 2011, he and long-time friend and fellow artist Benjamin Roe started collecting sounds for their musical collaboration called Caulbearer – ambient/noise with dense guitar atmospherics. You can view and hear his latest creations at hyperkineticvisualstimulus.com and soundcloud.com/caulbearer.
